Electric shock on the roof

Fortunate to still be alive

The young Curahuasino and his family are working on a building site.  Only the roof construction was needed for the building shell to be completed.  The workman somehow manages to heave a steel girder onto the top floor. For one instant he does not pay attention and the metal he is carrying comes into contact with the power line up above. As if he were struck by lightning he falls unconscious to the ground.

The other builders carry him down and bring him immediately to the Hospital Diospi Suyana. It smells of burnt meat in the A+E.  A part of his plastic trousers has melted into his leg.  The electric shock entered the body above the thorax and left via the feet.  But the man was very fortunate, since he only suffered second-degree burns, his heart continues to beat strongly and his kidneys function well.

After a fearful night in the intensive care unit and a bite to eat in the morning the patient had clearly made a recovery and Dr Tim Boeker and his team are extremely satisfied.

Is the patient aware what a narrow miss that was?
