Passing Salkantay by night

And the stars twinkle in the sky

The Salkantay is the “wild mountain” in the Quechua language. Debris and ice avalanches are common. The highest elevation of the Cordillera Vilcabamba is 6271 meters. From here it is a 75 minute drive to the Diospi Suyana Hospital. Yesterday around 9 pm the night sky impressed with a particularly bright star in western direction above the six-thousander. Two mission doctors could not resist the temptation and asked the cab driver for a little photo break.
