My car had pain on the fender

A visit to the uncle doctor

My car, a Subaru Forester, never actually complains to me. But the other day there was a lot of pressure on the front right side. As I am very sensitive, I immediately felt the general discomfort of my faithful friend on four wheels. I immediately made an appointment with the doctor at the garage. The mudguard had come loose from its anchorage. The result: an ugly gap in the bodywork and considerable discomfort for my dear companion on endless journeys.

The doctor was actually more of a surgeon. He carried out the necessary operation and afterwards everything looked the same as before. He acted with a lot of empathy and patience. Just what you would expect from an exemplary doctor. Last but not least, he stuck a plaster on the wound. My car confirmed immediately afterwards that it didn’t hurt so much with the plaster.

My colleague (I am also a surgeon) asked for 5 soles for the small emergency procedure. This amount is roughly equivalent to 1.4 USD. People are happy to pay any price for their loved ones, provided they feel better after the treatment.

If you ask me, I don’t think 1.2 euros to the car hospital is too expensive. You could even say that manual labor is grotesquely underpaid in Peru. The uncle doctor probably just took pity on my car and me. – By the way, after ten days I am allowed to remove the plaster and pull out the stitches. I do that myself, otherwise I have to hand the uncle doctor another half a sol (25 cents). /KDJ
