Musician Héctor Lazo: “That was the best festival in 20 years”

“Gozo en los Andes” – Three months from today we will be in the middle of it all

In Peru, hundreds of thousands of people know the singer Héctor Lazo from his concerts and TV appearances. Last year he played in the Amphitheater on the fourth evening. A few days ago he said on the phone: “The festival “Eco en los Andes” by Diospi Suyana was in my opinion the best prepared festival in Peru in the last 20 years and also at the highest technical level!” Coming from someone who should know.

The search for around 60,000 meals for 4,000 festival visitors over five days begins again these days. All the restaurants and stores in Curahuasi will be delighted with the rush. In addition, hotels and guesthouses can expect full occupancy. When the missionary doctors John and their three children settled in Curahuasi in the fall of 2003, the place was a small nest; now it is an up-and-coming boomtown that millions of people around the world have heard of.

Construction work is currently underway behind the amphitheater and at the leisure center. At the latter construction site, the sanitary facilities for the men must be ready in three months. In a week’s time, Udo Klemenz, with his many years of experience, will once again give clear commands. This will undoubtedly accelerate the pace.

It would be nice if “Gozo en los Andes” were to become the best or at least the second best festival of the past two decades. There are guests and contributors from many countries and probably from every state in Peru. These are good prospects. The anticipation is growing. So this year, Christmas will take place on April 26 – the first day of the festival. /KDJ
