Doris Manco and team spent two days in Puerto Maldonado
Last week, our transmission system in Puerto Maldonado was due for a service. The journey from Curahuasi to the capital of the Departamento Madre de Dios takes 13 hours. The overland road continues from there to Brazil. After only 4163 kilometers you could reach Sao Paulo. If this is too far for you, you can make a short stopover in Brasilia (3676 km). It is scorching hot in the Amazon rainforest. Only the wind and the regular rain showers make life more or less bearable. Over 200,000 people live in the area within the radius of our antenna tower.

Thanks to Don Donato’s stamina at the wheel, our group arrived safely at our destination. Victor Moreno soon had his hands full checking that all the devices were working properly.
Doris Manco presented her live show “Tu decides” from Puerto Maldonado, an experiment that fortunately succeeded.
Traveling to Madre Dios at night is not without danger. Attacks on buses and cars happen with great regularity, so you are well advised to head for a safe hotel before nightfall.
Diospi Suyana has 12 radio towers in five federal states. The route from Puerto Maldonado in the east to Ayacucho in the west covers a distance of over 1042 km. The journey by car is estimated by the route planner Falk to take around 20 hours. Unfortunately without any break. Curahuasi, the location of our hospital and media center, is situated between Cusco and Abancay.
