The construction project is nearing its end
Friends and readers of the Diospi Suyana building report, November in Curahuasi is a bit different than in the USA or Europe. Instead of murky fog we have sun with temperatures in the low 80’s. However, multiple nights this week we have had thunderstorms with heavy rain (and even hail), which has resulted in some power failures. Of course, the rain has affected the construction schedule a bit. This week we wanted to get the sports field leveled to the desired height, but instead of moving dirt, we would have to move mud now, which is not so good. However, maybe in the coming weeks we will have a few dry days in a row to complete this work.
The positive side of the rain is that it shows us where are weaknesses lie in the drainage system. It is evident we need to make some additional channels and a drainage shaft to prevent the water washing away all our potting soil. The plants are expected to arrive on Monday and I’m very curious to see how the appearance of the site will change.
The workers have been working throughout the week to prepare for the green areas. That means remove the rubble and larger stones and loosen the dirt. Others have been installing fence posts and completing the 3-stage bleachers.
In the kitchen, the gas line is now laid and the tile men are about to finish the last wall. They will then take care of the interior of the kindergarten basement. There are still a few rooms that need to be plastered and tiled.
Up at the hospital, the making of a storage room into office space is going well. Another window and window arch has been chiseled out of the concrete and is now plastered. The electrician has laid the cable for additional power outlets. I wish you a nice week and God’s blessings, Johannes
