Should you be an atheist, this story might change your world view
The Introduction: Since the beginning last year, the construction of the missionary hospital Diospi Suyana has been hindered by the lack of telecommunication connections. All the requests for a satellite dish filed with the big telephone company “Telefónica Perú” were unsuccessful. Even a presentation with the German ambassador to the bosses of “Telefónica Perú” did not help to solve the problem.
Scripture says that for those who love God, all things will work out for the best.
The Incident: December 19, 2005: After finishing my December campaign, I returned to Peru. At midnight, customs officials confiscate my projector. With the help of this tool, I had raised over 1 Million dollars for the hospital project.
January/February 2006: Representatives of the Peruvian government and the Protestant church try in vain to bring about the return of the tool.
February 10, 2006: As it becomes obvious that customs is not planning on returning my projector, I decide to purchase a new one in Lima. In the Yellow Pages, I find three companies that sell the appropriate equipment.
One afternoon, I visit one of the companies in the San Borja neighborhood. The owner of the company himself helps me. Trying out various projectors, I use the presentation on my laptop and that way take him through the history of Diospi Suyana. As soon as I had finished, a listener in the background asks me: “So Telefónica is not willing to help you?” “No, not at all” I say. “Maybe I can be of help” the stranger mumbles. “I am the president of the board of IMPSAT, a competing firm. Next time you are in Lima, you should present your request to the board of directors.”
Today on March 2nd, I presented the history of the missionary hospital Diospi Suyana on the fourth floor of the IMPSAT building. Its president, Mr Passallacqua, and two of the directors listened silently for half an hour. When I had finished, Dante Passallacqua took his pen and signed a document. Its content: IMPSAT will provide a satellite dish for internet and telephone usage to Diospi Suyana for free and for an unlimited period of time. The monthly charges are not being applied either. The annual costs would normally be about $20,000.
You could visit Lima stores a million times without meeting the president of IMPSAT. But when God acts, all rules of probability are overridden. And it all started with a confiscated projector.
