At 9am on Friday I was returning to Curahuasi from Lima. Forty-five minutes from home I look over and notice a paddock containing 50 tent structures. The people living in these tents are afraid of losing their homes in a massive landslides.

The story is similiar in all parts of this region. Somewhere between Curahuasi and Abancay there is a mass grave containing 100 people who perished when 20 years ago a large piece of the mountainside broke off and burying whole families in their homes.
