Farewell to the Forest

Dear Diospi Suyana friends!

This week we were forced to watch helplessly as the beautiful Eucalypt forest standing between the hospital and the highway was cut down with chainsaws. Meanwhile in regard to the Dental Clinic there is not much to report as most of the progress was made in the floor tiling work. Almost the entire crew is working under the direction of the master tiler and therefore about half of the work is already completed.

Meanwhile the exterior painting has begun with 3 workmen and already the front of the building is blending in beautifully with the rest of the hospital. The gardener continues his work around the helipad and already green shoots are sprouting up from the ground. Also on their list of priorities is the paving of the road to the compost heap.

I wish you a lovely weekend.

Udo.

PS. Only a year ago Dr John spoke to a close friend of the Bishop in Abancay about the forest in front of the hospital when rumours began to circulate that the Catholic church would sell the land to the local council so they could make a new marketplace. At that time, Dr John was reassured that there was no chance they would sell the forest as it was important to the church!
