All good things come in sixes
On the 18th February 2005 Udo and Barbara Klemenz sat in their kitchen and prayed: “God we are prepared to do your will. Please show us the way you want us to go!” The two of them were still pondering what such a special task would look like, when the telephone rang. An unknown doctor from Wiesbaden was at the other end and invited the building engineer to come to Peru to help him with a hospital project in the South-Peruvian town of Curahuasi. The rest is a story that millions of people have heard about through the media.
Udo, who hails from Niederbiel, supervised the building of the Hospital Diospi Suyana, the erecting of an Eye- and Dental-Clinic, built a house for our children’s clubs and a big school. His final heroic deed was overseeing the hospital extension.
Since yesterday Udo and Barbara and back in town. Young and dynamic as ever. This time their tasks are as follows: a new storey for the Media Centre, two more operating theatres and three new classrooms for the kindergarten. With his 75 years the building expert possesses the necessary experience.
We wish Udo and Barbara lots of enjoyment and energy for their sixth project. Perhaps we will be able to come up with a seventh one! Who knows! /KDJ
