Two hours with the head of the Apurimac Catholics
In 2007 the Witteler company donated two “Unimogs” (all-terrain trucks) to Diospi Suyana. The devoted Catholic Christians from Brilon decided to support this project run by Protestants. In Peru, only the state and the Catholic Church may import used cars, so Bishop Sala Ribera of Abancay let the vehicles into the country on behalf of the diocese for the benefit of Diospi Suyana.
Yesterday, Dr. John visited the new Bishop Gomez Gonzalez Gilber. After a detailed presentation on the vision of Diospi Suyana, the head of the Apurimac Catholics and the medical missionary talked for another hour about the current situation of the churches in Europe. The Bishop signed a contract that officially transferred the Unimogs to the possession of Diospi Suyana. To conclude the interview, Dr. John invited the Bishop to visit the mission hospital.
Both the old and the new bishop have supported Diospi Suyana without any strings attached; we thank both of them from the bottom of our hearts. Since spring of 2008, the two trucks have been in use on a daily basis.
