The months of September to December: every week was important
For the hospital’s 16th annual festival, we invited the entire staff to the festival grounds for a company outing. Most of the 280 employees from our five divisions spent a wonderful day in the great outdoors. A soccer and volleyball tournament, plenty of time for conversation and a hearty meal rounded off the program.

Under the direction of civil engineer Udo Klemenz, work began in the first week of September on a large multifunctional leisure and conference center on the festival grounds. The sanitary facilities for the male festival participants will be located in the basement. The two floors above offer plenty of space for four-bed rooms and conference rooms. The building will greatly enhance our “Festival/Youth Work” branch.

You can only see two floors from above, but three from below. The size is 3 x 300 m2 = 900 m2 area.

We installed a new sun canopy in September so that the pupils don’t get sunburnt during the breaks – UV exposure is extremely high in the Andes. The fabric panels can be retracted after the break using a series of motors.

Since 2016, Doris Manco has been pursuing the dream of encouraging many Peruvians to pray. At the Vigilia (day of prayer) from September 22 6 pm until September 23, 6 p.m. 61 frequencies participated. 45 FM stations, 9 medium wave stations and 7 programs online. In 19 of Peru’s 25 federal states, radio stations took over Diospi Suyana’s program. The result was simply stunning. Our employee Daniel Choqque made an unparalleled effort in coordinating this action.

It was a real surprise for us. In the first week of October, CBN, a television station from Virginia, USA, broadcast a documentary about Diospi Suyana. The Spanish section “Mundocristiano.TV” presented our work at least three times via its satellite program plus on social media. CBN’s correspondent in Peru, Rossana Zapata, prepared this article.
You never know what a program like this can achieve. A viewer saw the report on the television program in Guatemala City. As a result, the gynecologist Dr. Keren Castellanos is working at the Diospi Suyana Hospital for a month.

November 18, 2023: Saturday morning at 10:18 a.m. Doris Manco cut a red ribbon. Almost a quarter of a million people in the greater Ayacucho area can now receive Diospi Suyana’s program. Over the past eight years, our network of radio towers has grown to 12. We thank God for his blessing. Our transmitters are located in the states of Apurimac, Cusco, Puno, Madre de Dios and Ayacucho. Half of the population in these five departamentos lives in the area of our antennas.
We would like to thank everyone at the Media Center – especially Doris Manco – for achieving this milestone. Our appreciation also goes to Victor Moreno from Peru and Chris Welch from Australia for their active help over the years. Soli Deo Gloria!

A rainy Saturday morning. Despite the damp and cold, over 50 volunteers gathered early in the morning for a medical village mission. Two hours’ drive through 1000 bends over the mountains and arrival in the Quechua village of Huarocondo at 9 am. The village hall was divided into several consulting rooms. The Diospi Suyana team managed to treat 300 patients of all ages in the next six hours.

The medical spectrum was impressive. It included general medicine, pediatrics, traumatology, ophthalmology, odontology, urology and physiotherapy. A mobile pharmacy and an ultrasound service completed the offering.
There was a colorful program for the children. Pastor Marcos held two devotions and the clothing store donated warm textiles to those in need.

Almost every year, the children’s clubs organize a big party during the Christmas season. On December 2, over 1000 children and adults accepted the invitation. The headline read: “The lion and the lamb”. After a few rousing choir songs on stage, the heavenly court assembled. Only the Lamb of God could open the book with the seals. The scene from Revelation depicted the holiness of God and emphasized that the Most High is not a figure of fun with a white beard, but the highest authority in our universe. The groups of children went through 12 stations where the boys and girls had to be very active. Refreshments and small gifts were of course included.
What remains? In addition to a magical celebration, the children will remember that we take Jesus Christ at face value. Beyond the significance of a family event and a heart-warming tale, Christmas is the starting signal for humanity’s greatest rescue mission.

The children’s clubs are the oldest branch of our mission. Thousands of children from the Curahuasi district have rotated through these group lessons since 2005. In 2012, we erected a large building specifically as a base station for this department.

The headline on our website on December 17th was a real eye-catcher: “33 Diospi Suyana employees in prison”.
At the invitation of the director, a group of over 30 doctors, nurses and support staff visited the central city prison in Abancay. While the prisoners were waiting for their medical examination, they heard a message of faith in the upper part of the facility. The service included internal medicine, urology, traumatology, ophthalmology and physiotherapy. Some female missionaries looked after the female inmates in a separate section.
Diospi Suyana did not come empty-handed, but distributed a small Christmas cake, Christian literature and warm stockings for each person.

The students in the graduating class will continue their vocational and university education next year. The years at the Colegio Diospi Suyana offer them the best foundation for a successful future. In the historic photo, General Director Matthias Rehder is almost bathing in the crowd and the pedagogical director Jonathan Rosenkranz (top) is playing the clown. In a national competition, the Diospi Suyana School stood out as one of the best in the mountainous region, which does not have to shy away from comparison with private schools for the upper classes in Lima. Our thanks go to our Board of Directors and all the teaching staff. But let’s not forget the successful development work of Christian and Verena Bigalke. The two of them have invested eight years of their lives in our school.
What an exciting year 2023 will be!
When we say: “God, we thank you!”, we are not just paying lip service or saying a pious phrase. We take the successes in our five branches of work from his hand. The reality of God gives our lives a deeper meaning. His promise of life after death even gives our work in Peru a lasting, eternal significance. We employees see ourselves as followers of the Crucified and Risen One. Diospi Suyana is not an ego trip, not an attempt to realize ourselves. In a dark world, we testify with what we do: there is hope. And its name is Jesus Christ! /KDJ
