Civil engineer Udo Klemenz gives his valued opinion on all activities
Dear Diospi Suyana friends, the first rain-free week is coming to an early end due to the Easter holidays. Today on Maundy Thursday (public holiday in Peru) we work until noon and then we are off until Sunday. Easter Monday is not a public holiday in Peru.
On the school construction site, the beam grid on the individual foundations has been completely reinforced and some of the formwork has already been poured. The first section is still being concreted today, then we can strip the formwork again immediately after Easter and have formwork material available for the next section.
The second building has been marked out and the foundations have been marked out again for manual excavation. This building will have an external elevator in accordance with the latest school regulations.
The foundation pit for the elevator’s underpass is currently being excavated.
Drywall builders, tilers, air conditioning specialists and electricians have their hands full at the hospital with the technical and spatial preparations for the MRI installation. The Siemens technicians are due to arrive from Lima on Easter Monday to start installing the Faraday cage.
There are currently no major activities in the leisure center. The floor layers have trained our carpenters and laid a small section. Then their time in Peru was over again. The preparation of the wooden floorboards took much longer than planned. The carpenters assemble the door element for the main entrance
Under the leadership of Michael Mörl, there has been a huge leap forward in tent construction. The tents have been erected on the women’s pitch and the lower men’s pitch.
The subcontractor for the campsite extension has also done his best. The wire mesh fencing has been completed, work is underway on the entrance gate and large areas have been covered with grass. It looks like everything will be finished at the last minute after all.
My colleague and successor is still in Cusco with his wife for a few weeks at the language school and will be in charge of the school construction site from mid-May.
I wish you all a happy and blessed Easter, Udo

That looks pretty good.
