Carolina Dörr in Curahuasi
When Carolina Dörr was born in September 2003, the missionary doctors John and three small children moved to the mountain village of Curahuasi in southern Peru. A few months later the Diospi Suyana Foundation, based in Ober-Ramstadt, was recognized by the authorities. Since its foundation, its chairperson has been none other than Carolina’s mother, Annette Böttger.
Carolina says: “Since my earliest childhood I have always heard about Diospi Suyana. When my mother wasn’t working, she sat at her desk and volunteered for Diospi Suyana. It’s a great feeling that I can now see what has somehow been part of my world all my life!”
The International Management student, who studied in Medellin for a semester, is passing through on her way south. In the morning, she was given the obligatory tour of the hospital and media center buildings. In the afternoon she attended a lecture on Diospi Suyana. In intimate company with some Peruvian assistant doctors she saw how something great was created out of nothing.
“I have heard and read many of these stories so often,” says Carolina, “but they grab me anew every time!” They are stories that inspire us. And if it’s a true adventure journey with God, then everyone listens: Christians, agnostics and atheists alike. /KDJ
