Pupils from Vogt Primary School surpass themselves

Sponsored run raises more than €2,000 for Diospi Suyana!

On 20th July as the highlight of their themed week: “Health – everything to do with nutrition and health” 120 pupils of Vogt Primary School as well as a couple of teachers and parents ran for a good cause.  Each group had to run for ten minutes, not that long, but all the participants persevered and successfully completed the race.  Unfortunately the heavens opened just before the start so that the event had to take place in the sports’ hall – this, however, had absolutely no effect on the pupils’ keenness.

Before the event the children had looked for sponsors among their families and friends.  Some had more than eight sponsors on their list and ran up nice sums of money.  Before the event no one would have thought that more the €4,700 would be raised!

Half of this sum goes to Diospi Suyana, as “retired Vogtarian teacher” Alfred Mähr supports this Peruvian missionary project having visited Curahuasi himself.  In his last year at the school Alfred also taught refugee children.  The other half of this sum will stay at the school and will be used for future school events, thus benefitting the pupils.
