Everything is going according to plan on the building front

35 days until the big anniversary celebration

Dear Diospi Suyana Friends, this week our working week ends on Thursday.  On Friday and Saturday the whole of Peru celebrates “Fiestas Patrias”, commemorating 28th July 1821 – the day Peru gained its independence from Spain.  All of Diospi Suyana’s employees are obliged to march in the big parade on the Plaza de Armas – a true delight!

The building works of the hospital extension have progressed nicely and all the main to-do jobs have been completed.  Many of the team can now excel both on the outside and on the inside of the various buildings with their new tools: paint and paintbrush!  Most of the sanitary objects and the special electrical installations are now useable.  Inner windows are currently being installed in the intensive care unit and in the conference rooms.

We really hope that in the first week of August the caoutchouc flooring, which is coming directly from Germany, will be released by customs and that it can be laid in the third stage of construction.  Furthermore we are still waiting for the door-locks, the skirting boards and the sliding ladder for the Orthopaedic Workshop.

Tiles are being laid and lamps are being installed in the Orthopaedic Workshop.  Otherwise it can generally be said that several ancillary works are nearing completion.

The subcontractor has so far done a good job in the Amphitheatre.  Almost all the final eight beams have been completely welded and sprayed.  We plan to hoist them into place with the truck-mounted crane this weekend.  Currently we are erecting the reinforcement tubing between the supports.  Behind the Amphitheatre all the excavation material of the foundations has been driven away and the slits for mounting the supports in the rubble masonry have been filled in a fitting way.

Coming to our two antenna sites: the 50m tower in Casabamba has been erected and the whole compound is complete bar a few small remaining jobs.  The tower in Puno will hopefully be erected within the next few days.

Wishing you a blessed and hopefully not too rainy weekend, Udo.

Before the caoutchouc flooring can be laid in the conference room the screed needs to be smoothed.
Markus Rolli installs the nurse-call system.
Two toilets in the Orthopaedic Workshop are being tiled.
The unloading ramp stands in all its splendour. The bumper buffer device is still missing.
The children’s playground in the hospital grounds did not only get a new lick of paint.
Erecting the reinforcement tubing between the rear supporting stanchions.
The last two final beams are being welded.
