Udo Klemenz heralds a short break

But the work continues of course

Dear Diospi Suyana friends, my stay in Curahuasi is already over, on Saturday I fly back to Germany. I think I’ve got the two construction sites off to a good start.

As already written last week, the 2nd warehouse here on the hospital grounds should be able to be finished without problems by the small crew around Cristobal Pancorbo.

The construction site of the recreational home at the campsite in Lucmos is of course of a different caliber. This work will be continued by the Peruvian engineer Darwin Chillitupa after my return trip. If needed, I will be available via Whats App. from Germany to provide helpful support. The plan is for the basement, with its numerous sanitary facilities, to be functionally completed by the festival at the end of April 2024.

As you can see in the photos, the warehouse is steadily going up even with only four people. Currently, the back wall is receiving a double coat of bitumen paint and the drainage is being laid. After that, the excavation pit is already backfilled to a height of 1.50 meters.

At the guest house construction site, lean concrete was placed under the long retaining wall foundation during the reporting week to improve the foundation soil. In places we encountered massive rock that could only be removed with difficulty using a Bosch hammer. Unfortunately, this is also the case when digging some individual foundations. “The squirrel feeds with difficulty.”

The first section of the retaining wall foundation is now reinforced and we have started concreting.

Have a restful and blessed weekend and say “Shalom.” Udo

The final layers of the 40 cm thick back wall are being tackled.
In some places, the Bosch hammer must be used.
The filler concrete is placed along the entire length of the foundation.
Excavating the individual foundations is a laborious business.
The new Diospi Suyana truck performs well in transporting materials.
The first irons for the retaining wall foundation are laid.
