Soli Deo Gloria

250 sing Johann Sebastian Bach‘s compositions

On 9th March over 1,000 people squeezed into the Lutherkirche (Luther Church) in Wiesbaden in order to listen to the Sing-Bach final concert.  Among them were the Minister of Education and the Arts of the State of Hesse, Ralph Alexander Lorz, and Wiesbaden’s head mayor, Sven Gerich.  Primary school teacher Hildegard Fischer was responsible that this Germany-wide project was performed in Wiesbaden, the capital city of the State of Hesse, for the first time.

The pupils sang extracts from oratorios composed by the great German composers, which had been rewritten suitably for children.  The Frank-Schlichter-Jazzband accompanied them.  During the concert Ms Fischer gave a brief presentation about Diospi Suyana.  The evening ended with standing ovations and the elated audience donated €1,450 for our Christian and humanitarian work in Peru.  A cordial dankeschön to all the motivated singers, the project’s leaders and Hildegard Fischer.

Bach, a devout Christian, signed all his composed with the letters: SDG – Soli Deo Gloria – to God alone be the glory.  Like Bach, Diospi Suyana is convinced that all good things come from God: from nature’s beauty to inspiring music heard at a concert.  That we thank the Almighty is not a religious obligation, but a heartfelt expression.

The Lutherkirche provided an ideal location for such a concert.
