Peruvian Head of State, two ministers and two congressmen visit the Hospital Diospi Suyana

Francisco Sagasti promises to help our missionary doctors get their state recognition

At the crack of dawn the Peruvian Head of State, the Health Minister Dr Oscar Ugarte, the Education Minister Ricardo Cuenca Pareja and his advisor Carlo Magno Salcedes flew from Lima to Cusco.  That morning the clouds were hanging dangerously low in the sky.  At 9a.m. one could hear a quiet hum in the distance.  As soon as the first rays of sun broke through, the helicopter could land safely.  The congressmen Lenin Checco und Omar Merino made up the party of dignitaries.  Curahuasi’s mayor Nestor jara Pacheco also took part in the protocol.

The programme was broadcast live from the auditorium into the hospital’s waiting room.  Following the presentation outlining the background of our missionary work a walking tour of the hospital and of the Media Centre took place.  The President found it extraordinary to what size Diospi Suyana had grown to over the past few years.  The President promised to grant the missionary doctors their request of quickly and unbureaucratically helping future doctors get their state recognition.

We thank God for yesterday’s visit and hope that further positive results will come of it.
