Nurses’ Day

You have a value and you should also defend yourself!

Peru celebrates Nurses’ Day on August 31. But because the hospital’s anniversary falls on the same day, our good colleagues celebrated on Wednesday.

Under the motto: “Autodefensa / self-defense”, the pretty ladies and handsome gentlemen practiced hand-to-hand combat. The only question is, who do they want to defend themselves from? Perhaps from the directors? They are usually pretty peaceful. Or from the patients’ relatives? Our patients and relatives are almost always grateful for the work done. Perhaps they also need advanced combat training for the journey to and from work.

After all, years ago our then head of nursing Ann-Charlotte  Rönnquist was attacked with a knife by a thug in a ravine. But her reaction was not to try a karate chop, but to shout: “In the name of Jesus, push off!” The man ran away.

These celebrations serve to show appreciation for our staff. And of course there was also a feast in the dining room this time, with cake for dessert. It should be mentioned that Sabine Teichert is a woman with lots of good ideas. What would we do without her? /KDJ

Our nurses are the best we have.
And have a great future.
