Yesterday missionary doctors, Klaus and Martina John were sworn in as Peruvian citizens in a 40 minute meetings. In April the Peruvian Parliament had granted them citizenship for distinguished services to the nation. Several weeks later the papers were issued with the appropriate signatures in place. Now the Johns hold dual nationality with Germany y Peru.
The citizenship ceremony began with the singing of the Peruvian national anthem with the Johns had been practicing even in the cab ride to the office! The document of citizenship was then read out and Klaus and Martina swore their allegiance to the flag. Several short speeches and a light lunch finished off the procedure. Dr Klaus John took the opportunity to give all the glory to God for His work in Diospi Suyana.
The ceremony commenced with the singing of the national anthem, which the Johns had exercised on their way to the occasion with several taxi drivers. After reading of the charter Klaus-Dieter and Martina John swore allegiance to the constitution.
Several speeches and a light refreshment topped the event off. Dr. Klaus John noted that Diospi Suyana came into existence by the grace of God. Therefore all honor belongs to God alone.
