At the beginning of the year, 15-year-old Pedro already knew more about doctors and clinics than most of his peers. The symptoms started very slowly. Loss of appetite and then abdominal pain. His heart rate was clearly elevated. He suffered from a general malaise and sometimes it hurt here and sometimes there. All kinds of doctors had already given their valued opinions. But it didn’t get any better. Pedro lost weight and could no longer find the strength to go to school. And the experts told the family that Pedro was actually a hopeless case.
With this bleak prognosis, the young patient turned up at the Diospi Suyana Hospital in March. At this point his weight was only 45 kg.
