Dr. Walter and Maike Suter support the Diospi Suyana Hospital
It was March 11, 2011, and on that Friday an advanced training event for gastroenterologists took place at the Wiesbaden Kurhaus. Around lunchtime, the normal program was interrupted and a German-Peruvian reported on a missionary hospital in Peru. The speaker also spoke about the importance of faith in this humanitarian work. Among the 800 participants was the Swiss physician Dr. Walter Suter. Almost 15 years have passed since then, but Dr. Suter has never lost sight of Diospi Suyana. He has read two books about this amazing journey of faith and has regularly followed the further development via info letters and the website.
The Swiss specialist is not only an expert in his field, but also a committed Christian. A good 25 years ago, he was invited to a series of discussion evenings in Schwyz on the meaning of the Gospel. Since then, the Catholic Christian has seen himself as a conscious follower of Jesus Christ. And this world view has far-reaching consequences for the Suter couple. In Madagascar, they helped to set up an endoscopy department. A project that is running extremely successfully. – Recently the gastroenterologist remembered the Diospi Suyana hospital in Curahuasi. A few hours ago we received a generous financial donation with which we can improve our endoscopy suite enormously. Of course we are very happy about this surprise.
Who would have thought that a short lecture so long ago would have such an impact. We thank Mr. and Mrs. Suter and we thank God, the giver of all good gifts. /KDJ (Caption: The Suters in Madagascar during their medical mission)
