Our team in the orthopedic workshop makes it possible
In the picture on the left, Lydia is being pushed by her son into the orthopedics workshop at Mission Hospital. Due to her diabetes, her right lower leg had to be amputated six months ago. The radical surgery saved her life, but was difficult for her to cope with psychologically. In the end, it was the promise of our staff, “We’ll get you back on your feet!” that made her agree to the necessary surgery at that time.
Your 15-hour journey from Puerto Maldonado should be worth it. She received a prosthesis of the finest quality from Christian Haupt and Daniel Müller. And she finally has a quality of life again that allows her to be truly independent.
On the right picture she is walking on two legs again. She even pushes her son outside on his wheelchair.
Daniel Müller writes: “This is just one story of many. In March, we fitted ten patients with prostheses. We are already fully booked for April. Logistically, it presents us with great challenges, as we consume a vast amount of material. For each prosthesis we count on the use of 40 working hours.
