Do you see that?

Dr Buck presents the medical case of the week

As an emergency we saw a forty-year-old man from Puno State.  He reported that he was attacked 10 days ago and was shot at with a scattergun.  Five pellets hit him in the face.  The hospital in Juliaca removed four of them, but where was the fifth?

In order to find out exactly where the flying object was located we performed a computer tomography.  The scan showed us that the aforementioned pellet was not in the skin, but in a narrow opening between the eyeball and bones of the Orbita.  Thus it had penetrated to the tip of the eye socket and was lying between the optic nerve and the sinews of the eye muscle.  It was a miracle that the patient could still see everything 100% clearly.

Naturally I asked what actually happened.  The patient answered that at 11a.m he was attacked in Juliaca.  “Did they steal anything,” I wanted to know.  As the patient replied that the bandits had fixed their eyes on his car I assumed that the car was no longer in his possession.  But no, I was stunned when the patient answered: “No I called out loudly: “Hay poder en la sangre de Jesus” (There is power in the blood of Jesus) and they left off and vanished!”

The white spot in the eye is the bullit.
