Brutal violence at home

Patient waiting for her surgery

You should not mess with your son-in-law or at least advise your daughter better in choosing a partner. On Tuesday night, a 44-year-old Quechua woman presented to the emergency room at Diospi Suyana Hospital. The reason? In a domestic dispute with her son-in-law, the patient sustained a fracture of the right tibia (See above). The fracture is scheduled to be treated with an intramedullary nail on Wednesday. The fracture of the fibula does not require surgical intervention (See below). Even though traumatologist Dr. Fritz Meiswinkel will certainly achieve a good surgical result, this is a sad case.

According to a report in Peru’s leading daily newspaper, El Comercio, over 63% of women between the ages of 15 and 49 were victims of psychological, physical or sexual violence in 2018.

The fracture of the fibula is clearly visible.
