Are you keen on a good story?

Then read this one!

Peru is a beautiful country. Peru is a hair-raising country. And if nothing else works, you can experience in this country that God helps those who love Him. This is what is written in the old book. But of course, not the pious theory convinces, but only the hard practical test. Here is an example from Dr. Benjamin Zeier.

First, a technical explanation: What is an eSim? To make calls, you need a small SIM card that you insert into the phone. But the new generation of cell phones (currently only in the USA) no longer requires the card. The cell phone is only activated digitally. This is a so-called eSIM.

The report: “…I had received a new iphone from the USA two weeks ago and tried to have the eSIM activated here in Curahuasi for my cell phone number. I understand that in Peru this process can only be done in a customer office in a major city. So a few days later I was standing in Cusco in a store of the telephone company Claro. I was the first customer at 9 o’clock. I was told that they could not help me so easily. I would first have to submit a power of attorney from Diospi Suyana. (Most of the missionaries’ cell phones are registered through Hospital Diospi Suyana) …Without further ado, I thought I’d just buy my own SIM card and then use it to register the eSIM in my own name. Unfortunately, nothing worked again.

The employee said he needed a release from Lima. But no one there is available at the moment, he said.

Last week I was in Germany for my grandfather’s funeral. On the way back, I wanted to quickly settle the matter with my cell phone at a Claro customer office. But it wasn’t that simple. No Claro customer office was found in the first shopping center. With some effort, I finally found what I was looking for in another neighborhood of Lima. At the entrance I drew my waiting number. Finally, it was my turn. But the clerk was not getting anywhere. He would occupy himself with his computer for minutes on end. Time passed. I was getting restless inside.

…Suddenly one of his colleagues came over to us. She had been watching me in the store for quite a while. “Aren’t you Benjamin Zeier,” she asked me. “Yes, that’s me!” I was quite astonished.

Then the young lady continued, beaming with joy: “In April, I was at the youth festival in Curahuasi and attended your seminar!” – Then she told her colleague what she had experienced at the Diospi Suyana Youth Festival. He also said he absolutely had to be there next year. I could hardly believe my luck. A moment ago I was still afraid that my stop in Lima would lead to nothing as far as Claro was concerned. And now my frustration turned into confidence. There was no question that I left the store 15 minutes before closing time with an activated eSIM.

Additional information: The metropolis Lima has between 8 and 10 million inhabitants. This makes it at least eight times larger than Munich. The above picture was taken on one of the five concert evenings of the festival.

Maria Esther (center) has worked for the Claro telephone company in Lima for 14 years.
During the festival: Dr. Zeier will hold his workshop “Find your mission” – Find your life mission. Among the participants, in the back of the room, sits a certain Maria Esther.
