Albertine Reinsch February 7, 1927 – January 29, 2024
Now she is gone. The last of the Reinsch family. Albertine Reinsch was born in 1927 in the village of Antonuvka in the north of Ukraine in a German colony. She passed away two days ago in Bad Schwalbach. Nine days before her 97th birthday. In the picture above, you can see her as a little girl in the front row (second from the right). My aunt was the last member of my parents’ generation to die. On my mother’s side there were 10 children. My father had a brother. They now rest in peace in various cemeteries in Germany.
Interestingly, faith in God was so important to all of them that this conviction determined their lives. Albertine Reinsch found a new home in Wiesbaden after being expelled from the East. At the Hessian Ministry of the Interior and then the Ministry of Social Affairs, she worked her way up to the position of senior civil servant. When my wife and I announced the dream of a modern hospital for the descendants of the Incas at the beginning of 2004, she immediately began to support this project with large donations.
For Pentecost 1973, she gave me a book about personalities who have achieved a lot in the name of faith. Her dedication is shown below. She encouraged me to emulate these role models. That was over 50 years ago.
As Christians, we know that we will meet again one day. Our faith in Jesus Christ stands and falls with this hope of eternal life in the presence of God. Aunt Tina has gone ahead of us. We will follow her at some point. /KDJ
