450 kg Hanging Over My Head

On Wednesday morning I was invited to visit the Dräger Medical Company in Lübeck. After giving my presentation I asked the company for assistance with equipping our Operating Rooms and Intensive Care Unit. Next week they will give us their decision.

However, the day began with a tour of an excellently conceived exhibition which tells the story of the past 5 generations of the Dräger family. This company has annual turnover of 1.8 billion euros.

One exhibit instructed me to lie under a large rock (80cm in diameter). Meanwhile, from a loudspeaker a man’s voice spoke on the theme of “trust” – since the boulder weighed at least 450kg. A strange sensation indeed. What if the suspension fails? There would surely be no escape. The distance between the rock and my head of 30cm would make survival impossible. After 45 seconds, I emerged from under the suspended boulder safe and sound.

“Trust is also my motto”, I told the personnel of Dräger. ” Hospital Diospi Suyana has also been built by trusting in God!”

Do you believe in God or do you prefer to believe in good and bad luck? Do you fear the visit of the “Grim Reaper”? Then even if you manage to cheat death one time there is still the chance of terminal cancer or a fatal car accident from which there is no escape.

What is the point of faith in those kinds of difficult situations in life? A simple faith as a philosophy might barely carry you through.

Yet because the tomb of Christ was empty after 3 days, I believe in the resurrection of Jesus. We as Christians then know the guarantee of everlasting life regardless of whether the cable holds or not.

Jesus once said “I am the resurrection and the life: he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.” (John 11:25) KDJ
