He came to Peru to have an operation
His operation is behind him. Dr. Benjamin Zeier has done a great job. And during the days after the operation Roberto Rubio read through the current book “Diospi Suyana – un Experimento con Dios” (An Experiment with God). Roberto leafs through the pages and even shows me some personal handwritten notes.
The patient traveled with two friends from the town of Shell in the heart of Ecuador to Quito and then flew via Lima to Cusco. From 1999 to 2003, the Rubios and my wife and I belonged to the same church community. At that time, he ran a radio station. Today he is the pastor of a growing church.
“What I have seen here at Diospi Suyana has totally inspired me,” says Roberto. “I now ask myself where my own special mission lies!”
More than two decades have passed since then. A lot has changed in Ecuador and Peru. Some of the friends we knew have long since passed away. Others have scattered all over the world. But one thing has remained: Faith in the crucified and risen Christ. /KDJ
