In the whole world there is probably no other
Nurse Rebecca Wiens talks to an elderly Quechua couple in the emergency room. Our patients come from near and far and not without reason. The Hospital Diospi Suyana not only wants to treat its patients with love and respect, but also offers the best prices. 1 euro (4 soles) is the price for a visit to the outpatient clinic.
But of course, just like in a 1-euro store, this statement is only partially true. An examination in the emergency room costs the equivalent of 5 euros and an operation, endoscopy, tomography, etc. costs considerably more. The bottom line is that patients contribute one third of Diospi Suyana’s total expenditure. This means that two thirds are covered by donations, volunteers and donations in kind.
Today 20 pupils and accompanying persons from a Hamburg school are walking through the missionary hospital. They did not come to Peru to see Machu Pichu, but to see Diospi Suyana with their own eyes. Each participant paid their own airfare. I call that a real statement! Thus the “1-Euro-Hospital Diospi Suyana” continues to make waves as a work of practiced charity, where it is not slogans that count, but faith in action /KDJ
