Peru’s 200th birthday – our school takes part in the celebrations

With a varied programme on Facebook

To mark the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the founding of Peru the Diospi-Suyana-School broadcast a virtual party via Facebook.

The pupils were invited to dedicate a poem, a dance, a song or a work of art to their Fatherland.  In a patriotic country like Peru as absolute must.  The contributions were chosen and edited by school pastor and the three moderators Kati Espinoza, Jaris Hurtado and Raquel Álvarez.  The event was broadcast live from the school’s dining room.  The school moderated and praised the excellent contributions.  On top of that teachers Elizabeth and Yalú designed an impressive stage-backdrop.  Especially moving were some of the junior pupils who sang on their fields or had lavishly decorated their simple abodes.  The senior pupils dealt with topic via talk-shows and video-clips.

Three proud Peruvians.

Competitions were held in some categories that were overseen by a jury made up of media experts.  The teachers’ dance-medley that combined several of Peru’s ethnicities and regions was one of the many highlights.

During the programme that lasted almost two hours Likes, hearts and words of blessing flooded in from the spectators.  At the end of the evening the teachers could tuck into two red-and-white cakes – red and white are the colours of Peru.

At the Diospi-Suyana-School we pray for our country, our pupils and their families.  And we ask God that he will endow the President Pedro del Castillo with integrity and wisdom as he leads a deeply divided country. /CB
