A silent SOS signal saves lives
Experienced nurses pay attention to the regular breathing of their patients. An irregular rhythm in the ECG startles them. And if a patient presses the alarm button, the nurses immediately jump to the scene. Isn’t there a telephone ringing somewhere and who is moaning in pain under their comforter? Any noise could be important and require immediate assistance.
Yesterday lunchtime, our nurses thought they heard a strange sound in the usual background noise. Conscientious as they were, they pricked up their ears and approached a doorway on the first floor. The door is actually always locked and very few people know what is in this secret room. Fortunately, Diana Moraya from the computer department was in the hospital and had the right key to hand.
The mystery in the lower server room was finally solved. A small kitten had slipped down a cable shaft from the upper server room and called out “SOS” in its acute distress. Thanks to our attentive nurses and carers, the surprise guest is enjoying his freedom again. Despite all the friendship, the little kitty was given a strict warning. She was strictly banned from the house as of yesterday /KDJ (Photos: Dr. Martina John)
