Dr. Ursula Buck and team present in the central square of Curahuasi

An important preventive measure: don’t give eye diseases a chance!

286 people took part in the operation. The aim was to provide glaucoma screening and information about the disease glaucoma, which often leads to blindness if left untreated.

Our nurse Marleny gave several presentations on this subject. A 10-minute film provided information on risk factors, prophylaxis and treatment options. A big thank you to our media center for preparing the clip, which certainly ran 25 times in an endless loop yesterday.

Thanks to the announcement on Diospi Suyana radio, there was a great deal of interest among the population. The first people were already waiting at 8.00 in the morning. Our workshop team set up a tent and helped us with the organization.

We found moderately to severely elevated eye pressure in 80 people. Some patients suffered from other serious eye diseases. They will continue to be treated on an outpatient basis over the next few weeks. The medical campaign was free of charge. Outpatients pay 4 soles (1 euro) for an examination at the eye clinic.

Kudos to our employees around Dr. Ursula Buck. The mission was a complete success and a campaign that should definitely be repeated.

A serial investigation for interested Curahuasinos.
