At warm temperatures
The children’s clubs are the oldest branch of Diosp Suyana’s work. The first clubs were founded during the construction phase of the hospital (from 2005). There are currently ten clubs with a normal weekly attendance of around 300 children. Some groups meet in the local residential areas, others in the suburbs of Curahuasi. Three clubs meet in the Diospi Suyana children’s home.
The following pictures give some impressions of the San Cristobal Club near the cemetery and Sabine Teicher’s group on the other side of the valley. Christmas parties are currently on the program.
A few observations are allowed. Most of the children come from poor and dysfunctional families. The boys and girls are enthusiastic and grateful. In everyday life, they receive little praise and attention. In the clubs, however, they are supported and encouraged. They hear that God loves all people. Regardless of whether they are rich or poor. Janne Bühne, who works at the hospital as a volunteer in the optician’s workshop, is responsible for the overall management of the clubs.
