Last Friday a group of volunteers headed up the mountain to the Quechua village of Ccocha, which sits on the shores of a beautiful lagoon at an altitude of 3,500m. After a rocky start, the locals began arriving in droves seeking medical help.
Dr Oliver Engelhard examined medical patients right beside the waterfront while Dr Alex Brunner was kept busy with many pediatric patients. Dr Jens Hassfeld lent his gynecologic skills into the mix as well.
Meanwhile, Dr. Melanie Zeyse and Dr. Martina John held down the fort back at Hospital Diospi Suyana by treating 60 patients, who had mostly come from far away to seek medical help.
