A special band

Three Frenchmen on stage

If the chemistry is right, you have won a great deal.  Mutual respect, sympathy and even love.  A feeling of togetherness, internationally.  A deep solidarity, which transcends borders, cultures and class.  Does it really exist? Yes, it does.  There where people follow and love Jesus Christ one can experience this.   But one needs to have experienced it in order to believe it.

Friday 08:30.  People are gradually trundling into the hospital church.  Three Frenchmen are part of today’s band.  Abner, who works in our IT department, got to know them.  He immediately perceived that the three Mediterraneans not only make good music, but are also devout Christians.  Christian, not for cultural reasons or belonging to a certain denomination, no, because Jesus Christ is Lord of their lives.  Practical faith that comes from the heart makes an immediate connection.  It simply clicks.

Jérémie Maurin, his brother David Maurin and Bastien Ollier.  Frenchmen journeying through South America.  Passionate musicians, passionate Christians.

The church is full.  Members of staff, patients and visitors sing two songs about God’s mercy and majesty together with the band.  After Pastor Marcos’ sermon everyone joins in the final song.  Nathanael Hach writes: “Every morning it is blessing to praise God and pass on his love in the morning services!”

A TV-reporter working with a secular film-crew once said: “Diospi Suyana is more a family than a hospital!”  He is right.  But the secret is not Diospi Suyana, but our faith in the risen Christ.
