An Aymara named Rita Mamani Poma
September 24, 2025 marks another milestone in the history of our facility. The computer system identified a woman from the Aymara people as the 600,000th visitor to the hospital. The mother of two children had left her village in the state of Puno the previous day and traveled a good ten hours to Curahuasi. She did not come alone, but accompanied by her husband and father-in-law.
At the end of the service, Dr. Klaus John said: “Yuspagára Kulláka!” (Congratulations sister). The happy patient received a gift basket full of surprises. All the services of the day were also at the expense of the house.
The Aymaras live in southern Peru in the area of Lake Tititcaca and in neighboring regions of Bolivia. To date, our doctors and nurses have treated almost 86,000 patients from the state of Puno. /KDJ
