Peru – a country under the impact of Covid 19

Diospi Suyana combines its forces

Last night the official tally of Peruvians infected with Covid 19 stood at 508,000.  It is possible that more than 5mio have contracted the virus, as antibody-tests suggest that the dark figure is tenfold.

5,000 overshoes are currently being produced at the missionary hospital.  On the above picture Daniel Müller is cutting the plastic tarpaulin into the correct shape by means of a template.  Local cobblers will then start their work.  In this way we support the local economy.

Before they even set foot in the hospital all patients must go through a triage to ascertain whether they show any Covid-symptoms.  Should anything suspicious be discovered a quick-test is immediately performed.  Covid-patients who need treatment are admitted via a separate entrance and taken to the first floor where there are 45 beds that are totally separate from the remainder of the hospital.  Thereby the running of the rest of the hospital can be assured.

Especially hospitals in Cusco can no longer master the current situation: patients either die at their homes or whilst waiting for admittance into the hospitals.

Depending on the respective case whole departments can be closed at Diospi Suyana in order to use the staff as fighters against Covid 19.  A fourth oxygen generator has been ordered.  Furthermore, we will place a cylinder of oxygen next to each bed just in case the central system has a technical hitch.

How long will the pandemic’s iron grip control Peru?  Probably a further 6-12 months./KDJ
