At the Christian Health Congress in Kassel
It was the sixth time that doctors, nurses and administrative staff working in the health sector met for this three-day congress. The seminar topics dealt mostly with the various ways of communication in the everyday life of clinics. Among the stalls set up on the Kongress Palais’ exhibition space, the Diospi Suyana Organisation presented its work in Peru.
In German society convinced Christians are a small minority. That is why it is so important to give the voice of faith a forum. Caring for the poor, the broken and those excluded from society is an early Christian topic which Jesus focusses on in his parables. Sadly, many of the people living in Western Europe have forgotten the parable of the Good Samaritan, which has decisively influenced the ethics of occidental medicine. Without having God in the equation the weak are quickly left by the wayside in this world’s competitive struggle. When dealing with aging, illness and death the Christian Faith offers answers that are in no way found in atheism, namely comfort and orientation./KDJ
