Why are we so crazy about celebrities?

Christina Kelly was a successful publisher of magazines for young women over the years in Elle, Girl, YM, Jane and Sassy worked. Some time ago she wrote a self-criticism:

"Why are we so crazy about stars? Here is my theory: we feel insignificant, so we idolize the stars and try to look like them. We identify with their achievements in order to escape our own insignificant life, but that’s plain stupid. After viewing this gallery of photo shopped beauty, decorated with breast implants its hard not to feel small and insignificant. As we adore them, because we feel unimportant, it makes us feel worse. First we make them stars, and then their fame makes us feel insignificant. "As editor, I’m a wheel in the gearbox. No wonder that at the end of the day I feel dirty "(Quoted from "Jesus – His story, our story" by Timothy Keller)!

Jesus said: “Come to me, all you who are troubled and weighted down with care, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke on you and become like me, for I am gentle and without pride, and you will have rest for your souls.” Matthew 11: 28-29
