…Udo Klemenz and the construction crew hold the flag very high
Hello Diospi friends, the period of bad weather is over and we have, by German standards, glorious midsummer weather during the day. Tent dismantling continues and the particularly wet tents, already dismantled, were laid out to dry on the tiers of the amphitheater. (See above)
Extensive plastering work in and around the restroom buildings is coming to an end this week. The roofer installs the Eternit cladding on the verges (gables) and eaves. We could not start with the tile work yet, because the dealer had transport difficulties for the tiles from Lima and we are now to be supplied from Arequipa.
At the warehouse in the back slope we actually make good progress. Due to the earth pressure to be taken into account, the rear wall and a small section of the side walls are designed as reinforced concrete masonry d = 40cm with stiffening reinforced concrete columns and ring anchors. A somewhat elaborate construction method, but with our modest possibilities a pure reinforced concrete wall of 3.50 m height would have been very difficult to achieve.
At present, the heavily reinforced ring beam is being shuttered at a height of 1.50 m, the back of the wall is being insulated and drainage is being laid. After concreting, we will backfill the first section and continue to work our way up.
Best regards from Curahuasi! Udo
