What will now happen to Alejandro Toledo?

The former Peruvian President is now in police custody

Last Tuesday the US-American authorities arrested Alejandro Toledo in his house.  He was carrying a briefcase containing USD40,000 in cash.  The 73 year-old was Peru’s President from 2001-2006.  He was the 5th child of an Indian family and grew up in humble circumstances.  Among other things he studied economic sciences at Stanford University.  In February 2017 an international arrest warrant was issued.  He is accused of accepting bribes of more than USD20mio from the Brazilian building company Odebrecht.  One expects a protracted extradition procedure.

During his presidency Diospi Suyana had no personal contacts with Toledo.
