It makes a Friday complete
Dear Diospi-Suyana-Friends, our focus moved from duct connection works (last week) to plastering and screed works in the upper floor (this week). Bar a few window embrasures all interior plastering works have been completed. The screed has been applied in the festival hall and on the far-protruding balconies.
The locksmith had started making the stage construction, but unfortunately, as there was not enough material left over from the last roof-construction, he was not able to completely finish it. The front-side railings (access ramp and office entrance) have been made and put in place.
Next week the concrete crane will be dismantled. This means that we can put the missing bit of the balcony balustrade in place, since the individual elements have already been produced.
In the course of the week we started work on excavating the elevator pit (with a depth of 1.4m) in front of the Eye Clinic up in the hospital compound. The subsoil is highly compressed and the workers have to work extremely hard with pick and shovel. As the building pit is directly next to the access to the A+E and thus has to be kept free we have to wheelbarrow all the excavated materials 40m away to an unloading point next to the Amphitheatre. I myself drew the reinforcement plan for the shaft and two people have started cutting and bending the necessary irons. We hope that the required installation parts for the concrete walls of the shaft on which we will later mount the guide rails for the lift will arrive from Germany as early as possible, since until they arrive we will only be able to complete preparatory works.
As coming Monday is a bank-holiday we are looking forward to a long weekend. Cordial greetings and wishing you a blessed new week, Udo.
