Through the eyes of a mother

The fear in the heart

Not a day goes by when we do not gain insight from human tragedy that occurs at our mission hospital. Suffering, pain, illness and death are part of the normal daily routine of a hospital. When the doctors and nurses go home in the evening, they must leave the misery behind; otherwise they will be emotionally crushed. But when its our own daughter or son, then the emotions are raw.

A few days ago, a twelve-year-old boy had an emergency leg surgery at Diospi Suyana. Ryan Morigeau takes a photo of the boy’s mother watching her son pass through surgery door. Viewing the image we can empathize with the mother, understand her fears and hear her prayers.

If we can see the world for a moment through the eyes of another, then we have understood Him and the Bible verse: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself!”
