The most dangerous idea in the history of the world

Peter Hitchens does not beat about the bush

On Australian national TV Peter Hitchens, the well-known English journalist and best-seller-author, was asked: “What do you think is the so-called “dangerous idea” that has the greatest potential to change the planet, if one puts it into practise?”

He answered: “The most dangerous idea in the history of the world is the belief that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and rose from the dead.  That is the most dangerous idea that we will ever have to deal with!”

“Please could you explain why dangerous?” answered the moderator.

Hitchens replied: “Because this idea would totally change human behavior and our sense of responsibility.  It would turn the universe from a senseless chaos into a created place that has justice and hope.  And that is why we must discover the nature of this justice and translate it into our everyday lives.  If we reject this, it will also change us.  This idea is unbelievably dangerous.  That is why so many people are fighting against it!” (Photo: Businessinsider)
