The long road to the interview in Darmstadt

The shorter way to the exit to Peru

On Friday afternoon, our mission accepted six prospects as future employees. Chairman Olaf Böttger (left), Karin Straßheim from the local office (right) and Dr. John (behind the camera) asked each candidate many questions. Once again it became clear that sometimes several years pass since the first contact with Diospi Suyana before someone decides to get involved in Peru. Understandably so, given that the risks are high and the private financial sacrifices considerable. And yet they knock on our door and fill out extensive forms. Daring and fearful, young and old. Their hallmark is their belief in a real God and their desire to live out that belief practically.

Among tens of thousands, you have to look for such people with a magnifying glass. They are not in line with the trend. Their willingness to sacrifice is high. They don’t babble on, they get down to business. They reject the credo of our time. “Bottom line, I count!” Instead, they have Christ’s words in their ears, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. And your neighbor, as yourself!”

After this intensive interview in Darmstadt, experience shows that it takes another 12 months before the new employees board the plane to South America.
