In the end, the total cost (including taxes) for the 9 machines needed for the blood bank, was $38,812. Because of the delays in coming to an acceptable settlement with the Ahseco company, Dr John decided to instead buy the equipment from the Kessler company. The estimated savings fro the hospital is approximately 40% of the normal sale price.
Alan Kessler, former President of the Peruvian Chambers of Commerce, also gave an extended warranty on the purchased equipment, covering it for 1 and a half years.
During the past month, Dr John has made visits to 6 different companies, 2 blood banks and the National Commission for blood banks, seeking to solve the issue of blood for the hospital. It seems that all that hard work finally paid off.
