The Children’s House Is Growing

Dear Friends of Diospi Suyana,

At the beginning of the week, a one-hour downpour turned the unsurfaced upper village street into a field of mud. Fortunately, the rain does no longer effect the construction. To the contrary, it was the perfect opportunity for some concrete curing of the freshly poured ceiling panels. The anise farmers, on the other hand, were less happy since the rain can negatively effect the blooming anise plants.

We are currently working on the building’s first floor, with new construction supplies arriving steadily. A building supplier is nice enough to let us store our cement in one of his warehouses, from where we can bring supplies to the construction site whenever needed.

The first floor walls keep rising, and the support beams will be finished within the next few days. Even from the street, you can now get a clear idea of what the children’s house will look one day.

Other than that, there is not much news from Curahuasi. The only thing worth mentioning is the fact that, with the presidential election scheduled for June 5, the election campaigns are now in their important final phase.

Greetings from Curahuasi,

Udo.
