The first 24-hour “Vigilia”
For the first time, due to the current Corona-crisis, Diospi Suyana‘s media centre announced a 24-hour prayer vigil which it broadcast over its six antenna systems and via the internet. The staff formed four teams that moderated the programme for the full 24 hours.
Here an analysis: 10 external radio stations tuned in; seven Christian, three secular stations.
We received 103 audio-messages containing prayer requests via WhatsApp and Email. Furthermore, participants of the event sent us 104 text messages and a further 270 greetings via WhatsApp and telephone.
Invited by Doris Manco Dr Martina John addressed the listeners at the beginning of the programme in which she highlighted radio’s great blessing as it encourages people who are currently being forced to live in isolation due to social-distancing. Don Pedro Ferreira, head of Peru’s national prayer movement, welcomed the initiative of Diospi Suyana’s media centre. At 11p.m. Dr Klaus addressed the audience from Lima. He said that even in this time of suffering and hardship there are many reasons to be thankful. Curahuasi’s mayor called on Saturday evening and congratulated the team to this special initiative.
The following countries sent comments or greetings to Diospi Suyana: Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, Columbia, Cuba, Ecuador, France, Germany, Italy, Kenya, Mexico, Peru, Russia, Spain, Switzerland and the USA.
For our media team this day of prayer was an incredible accomplishment and, judging by our listener’s feedback, definitely well worth it. A cordial “dankeschön“ to all our dedicated staff headed by Doris Manco.

Psalm 19,1-2+4
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world!
